How are you feeling today?
Today I am feeling better than last week, which means there is progress; just that progress, I have found, is rarely linear.
What are you most proud of?
I am most proud of never giving up. I never gave up when I was unsatisfied with my career and so I went back to study at 32 years old. I never gave up when I could not find a deserving partner, so I persevered until I married at 35 years old. I never gave up when I could not have kids, so I did as many rounds of IUI and IVF as my body and soul could take. I never got to have my child, but I NEVER gave up.
What is your biggest learning in life so far?
Love myself.
What are your hopes for the future?
I hope that in the near future I will feel fulfilled with my life. No why’s or what if’s, just living in the present moment and feeling a sense of purpose and fulfillment. Inner work is hard and infertility continuously puts a mirror in front of my face to have to work with my self-love.
What would you tell your younger self?
Life has no script. The “this is the way to live life” checklist is an illusion, just live your life, mistakes allowed.
When or where are you happiest?
Teaching.
What would you like to say to wider society?
Motherhood is an option and a possibility, not a certainty. Teach that to your girls! A woman is complete regardless of her ability to procreate.
